A youth movement linked to the Knights of Columbus has made a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Astoria. Members of Charles Turina Circle of the Columbian Squires sold Christmas wreaths in November and December, with the goal of raising $1,100 to help fund St. Vincent de Paul’s Food for Kids program.

The program provides weekend meals and snacks for students in kindergarten through second grade to help supplement family needs. The Squires surpassed their goal, and everyone’s expectations, and were able to raise $1,650 to donate to St. Vincent de Paul.

Jerry Lencioni, a member of St. Vincent de Paul, and a former Squire himself, said that the money would fund the program for as long as a month.

Columbian Squires is an organization for Catholic young men, ages 10-17, under the guidance of the Knights of Columbus.
