On Feb. 27, the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon celebrated their 125th year of service by inviting community members to an open house in their home, complete with tours of the famous dome and several areas of the 80-year-old building.

The day ended with a prayer service presided over by Father Jeff Meeuwsen, a 1995 graduate of Valley Catholic.

Several people spoke about their relationship with the Sisters, including Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle — parent of a 1995 alumna from Valley Catholic.

During the event, guests were treated to roaming servers carrying trays of desserts and beverages, with many among the various gathered crowds throughout the convent engaged in lively conversation with Sisters, school parents and friends.
