Single Catholic men and women are invited to a “Community of the Beloved” retreat with Eugene-based Catholic author Mary Sharon Moore on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Vancouver, Wash. The retreat begins at 3:30 p.m., with Mass at 5 p.m., followed by wine and cheese with the author at 6 p.m. The retreat will include a reading from Moore’s new book Anointed for a Purpose, and music by Dan Dingman and Marianne Martin. Moore’s 13-week radio series titled “Christian Celibate Life” has been featured on KBVM-FM’s weekend Awakening Vocations radio program.

Catholic families can learn what it’s like “Living in God’s Economy” with Moore on Sept. 30 at Our Lady of Lourdes. Based on Moore’s family workbook of the same title, the workshop offers Christ-centered households the theology behind living simply and hands-on exercises. Preregistration is requested, and workbooks are included. The workshop goes from 12:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Our Lady of Lourdes is located at 4723 NW Franklin Street, Vancouver. Call 360-695-1366, or e-mail Sue McDonald at [email protected]
