The Mother Joseph Province of the Sisters of Providence has brought in the Philippines province and its three Sisters. Sisters Julia Macasieb, Dalisay Rayray and Lucila Vasquez came to Seattle for a joyous welcoming celebration.

A choir of sisters welcomed the newest members of Mother Joseph Province with a song sung in Tagalog.

Small numbers in the nation of islands and the need for community life sparked the move to bring the Sisters into the province that covers the Northwest, Alaska and El Salvador.

The three sisters will remain in the Philippines as a local community with the support of the large province.

Sister Julie lives in Diliman, Quezon City, and serves in campus ministry, Christian Formation for Youth, and vocation direction/accompaniment. Sister Beth lives in Punta Sta. Ana, Manila, and is currently on a cross-cultural experience in Holy Angels Province in Edmonton. Sister Lucy lives in Diliman and is executive trustee and coordinator for the Office of Women and Gender Concerns, and a mission partner of the Association of Major Religious Superiors in the Philippines.

Five U.S. Sisters of Providence began a mission in the Philippines in 1989.
