University of Portland will host a Salzburg Musical Celebration with the University Singers in concert on Saturday, April 12 at 3 p.m., in Buckley Center Auditorium on campus at 5000 N. Willamette Blvd. The concert, in celebration of the University’s 50 anniversary of the Salzburg study abroad program, is free and open to the public.

The University Singers, conducted by faculty member Michael Connolly, will perform Austrian music, including pieces by Mozart and Bruckner, as images of Salzburg are projected in the performance space. The choir will also sing one of Franz Gruber’s arrangements of Silent Night, which was written in a village near Salzburg. Audience members will also be able to sing-along with the University Singers to favorites from The Sound of Music.
