Christopher Wicks will play his 8th annual Advent Organ Recital Sunday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m. in the Mount Angel Abbey Church in St. Benedict. The recital includes a first part with organ pieces based on St. Ambrose's hymn "Veni, Redemptor gentium" (Savior of the Nations, Come), including music by Sweelinck, Buxtehude, Bruhns, Bach, and Wicks himself. The second part will be a complete performance of Bach's Cantata 51, "Shout to God in All Lands," with soprano Aimee Amend, trumpeter Brett Randolph, and cellist Tommy Leinonen joining forces with Wicks. No tickets are required, but donations are much appreciated.

Christopher Wicks holds a MM in Organ from the University of Oregon, and is a Fellow of the American Guild of Organists, the highest level of certification granted by that organization. He also holds a MM in Composition from the University of Montreal, and his music has been performed in a variety of settings throughout North America, in Korea, and in nine European countries, besides publications by nine houses in the USA and Germany. He serves as organist at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in West Linn.
